Southern pine beetle can kill a healthy pine in a matter of weeks once it takes hold, and activity is picking up again this season across the region.
Look for popcorn-shaped resin blobs on the bark and needles fading from green to yellow to reddish brown. Pines are often planted close together, so one infested tree can spread fast to its neighbors.
Do you have pines on your property that haven't been checked in a while?

A close-up photo of resin blobs on pine bark, or a technician inspecting a pine stand on a local property, works best here.
