Summer deadwooding for mature Chattanooga trees: safer canopies and healthier growth

Post Copy

Summer is the easiest time of year to find deadwood, because the healthy limbs are in full leaf and the dead ones stand out bare.

Deadwooding is the removal of those dead and dying limbs from a mature tree. Left in place, they become falling hazards over roofs, driveways, and walkways, and the next Tennessee Valley storm is often what brings them down.

Clearing them does two things. It removes the risk to everything below the canopy, and it lets the tree direct its energy into strong, living growth. Our climbers work through the crown of mature Chattanooga shade trees, taking out the deadwood cleanly and leaving the healthy structure intact.

A summer deadwooding pass is one of the simplest ways to keep a large tree safe.
