Tubakia leaf spot on Chattanooga oaks: what to look for and when to act

Post Copy

Seeing brown spots and premature leaf drop on your oak trees? In Chattanooga and across the Tennessee Valley, late spring is when Tubakia leaf spot typically appears on oaks.

Tubakia is a fungal disease that spreads through wet, humid conditions. It causes brown lesions on leaves, often clustering along the midrib, and can lead to early defoliation. For a healthy, well-established tree, it's usually a cosmetic problem. For a tree already under stress from drought, soil issues, or previous damage, repeated infections can cause real harm over time.

If you're not sure which situation you're dealing with, our ISA Certified Arborist can assess the tree and advise on whether treatment or monitoring is the right approach for this season.

Call Tree Worx LLC at (423) 451-6388 or request an assessment at https://treeworxllc.com/contact/ to have your trees evaluated before the condition progresses. #Chattanooga #TreeHealth #OakTrees #ISACertified #TennesseeValley
