How Texas Tree Authority Diagnoses and Treats Oak Wilt Before It Spreads Between Live Oaks

Post Copy

Oak wilt is one of the most serious threats to San Antonio's live oaks, spreading tree to tree through connected root systems long before symptoms show above ground. Texas Tree Authority's ISA-certified arborists diagnose and treat it before it moves further.

Early signs include veinal necrosis on the leaves, sudden wilting starting at the top of the canopy, and leaf drop that happens out of season. The earlier it's caught, the more treatment options remain available for the trees involved.

Depending on how far an infection has progressed, treatment can involve trenching to sever root connections between trees or fungicide injections for high-value specimens. Every case is diagnosed individually based on how the trees on a property are connected underground.

If your live oaks are showing unusual leaf drop or wilting this season, an oak wilt assessment is worth scheduling before it spreads further.
