Summer Heat Stress: What San Antonio Trees Are Up Against

Post Copy

San Antonio summers put trees under serious stress. Triple-digit heat, dry spells, and caliche soil that drains quickly combine to create conditions that weaken even established trees.

Signs to watch for: wilting leaves that don't recover after sundown, premature leaf drop, branches dying back from the tips, and bark cracking in exposed areas. These are stress responses, and trees under stress are more vulnerable to insects, disease, and storm failure.

Deep watering, mulching around the base, and a professional canopy assessment can make a real difference before the worst of summer sets in.

Have any of your trees been showing signs of stress so far this season?
