Summer tree watering guidance for San Antonio homeowners

Post Copy

San Antonio's summer heat is hard on trees — and most homeowners are watering them the wrong way. Short daily cycles near the trunk don't reach the active root zone and can cause surface root growth that weakens the tree over time.

Our ISA-certified arborists recommend deep, infrequent watering at the drip line, the outer edge of the canopy and beyond. For established trees, once or twice a week with a slow soak is far more effective. For newly planted trees, a soaker hose ring about 18 inches from the trunk helps the root ball establish without waterlogging.

Texas Tree Authority provides expert tree health consultations for San Antonio and Bexar County properties. If your trees are showing signs of stress this summer, heat scorch, leaf drop, or thinning canopy, call before the damage goes too deep.

Call 210-251-4232 or visit texastreeauthority.com to schedule a consultation. We're open Monday–Friday 9am–6pm and Saturday 9am–2pm. #SanAntonioTrees #TreeHealth #ISACertified #SummerCare #LiveOak
