Early summer is when insect pressure and fungal disease start to show up in NE Ohio trees, and catching problems now is much easier than managing them later in the season. The Mahoning Valley's warm, humid June conditions create good conditions for a few specific threats worth knowing.
Emerald ash borer remains a concern for ash trees throughout the Youngstown area. Look for D-shaped exit holes in the bark, thinning upper canopy, and increased woodpecker activity, all signs the tree is under attack. Oak wilt and various fungal diseases also spread more aggressively in early summer, particularly after wet springs. Discolored or wilting leaves that spread from branch to branch, rather than uniformly, are worth a closer look.
Starwood Tree Service can assess trees showing signs of stress across Girard, Youngstown, and the surrounding Mahoning Valley. Our ISA-certified arborists know what to look for in this region and can recommend treatment or removal before a problem spreads to adjacent trees. Fully licensed, bonded, and insured.

Authentic job photo preferred: a crew member inspecting a tree up close, or a before/after showing a diseased or damaged tree and the cleared result after removal. A close-up of impacted bark or canopy could also work for an educational tone. Avoid stock images of generic insects or generic forest scenes.
