One of the most common situations we encounter with a new client is a network that works, but nobody can fully explain why. The original installer has moved on, passwords live in a spreadsheet or a notebook, and the only person who knew which switch feeds which office left years ago. Everything holds together until something fails, and then troubleshooting starts from scratch while the business waits and the clock runs.
Documentation is one of the first things SMS-ITC builds when we take on an environment. We map the network, label equipment and cabling, record configurations, licenses, warranty dates, and vendor contacts, and store administrative credentials in a secure, access-controlled vault rather than in someone's inbox. That record is kept current as changes are made, so any technician on our team can step in with full context and the client is never dependent on a single person.
For regulated clients, the same documentation supports audits, compliance reviews, and insurance questionnaires that ask how systems are managed. For business leaders: if your most knowledgeable IT person were unavailable tomorrow, how quickly could someone else find what's needed to restore your systems and get your team back to work?

Authentic photo of a neatly labeled network rack or patch panel from a real SMS-ITC install, ideally a before/after showing an unlabeled closet transformed into an organized, documented one. Authentic photos of the SMS-ITC team and real client work are strongly preferred over stock; if stock is used, keep it realistic and non-cliche (no hooded hackers or glowing padlocks).
