Clearance Trimming Keeps Overhanging Limbs Off Metro East Roofs Before Winter

Post Copy

Overhanging limbs on Metro East roofs become a real winter risk once ice starts coating branches, and fall is the time to clear them.

Branches that rest on shingles, rub against siding, or crowd a chimney gain weight quickly in an ice storm, and a limb that only brushed the roof in October can break through it in January. Clearance trimming removes those limbs with cuts made at the branch collar, which lets the tree seal the wound and limits weak regrowth. It also reduces the leaves and twigs that clog gutters each fall and keeps squirrels from reaching the roofline.

Riverbend Outdoor Services has provided clearance trimming for homeowners in Moro, Godfrey, Bethalto, Edwardsville, and Alton since 2007. Every trimming job ends with branches hauled away and the yard cleaned up, so the property looks the way it did before the crew arrived, just with more daylight on the roof.

A before/after pair of a Metro East house with limbs overhanging the roofline, then the same roof with clear space after trimming. An in-progress shot of the crew cutting a limb above the gutter also works well. Authentic job photos strongly preferred over stock.
