Summer storms in Madison County: what to look at on your property before the season peaks

Post Copy

Metro East Illinois gets its share of strong summer storms, and the trees that come down are usually the ones where the warning signs were there but went unaddressed.

A few things worth checking on your property before peak storm season: branches extending over the roofline or driveway that have grown noticeably since last year. Any lean that seems more pronounced than it used to. Deadwood in the canopy that rattles instead of bends in the wind. Soft or discolored wood at the base of a trunk. Fungal growth at the root zone.

None of these are automatic red flags, but all of them are worth having a professional set of eyes on. Riverbend Outdoor Services serves Moro, Bethalto, Godfrey, East Alton, Wood River, Edwardsville, Alton, and Glen. Free estimates, and 24/7 emergency response if a storm does bring something down.

Are there any trees on your property you've been meaning to get looked at before summer gets going? #MetroEastIL #MadisonCounty
