Removing Deadwood From Upstate Oaks Before Winter Ice Arrives

Post Copy

The Upstate doesn't get winter weather often, but when an ice storm does roll through Greenville and Spartanburg County, the damage adds up fast. A quarter inch of ice can multiply the weight on a limb many times over, and the branches that fail first are almost always the ones that were already dead.

Deadwood removal is a targeted pruning service that focuses on those limbs. Our climbers work through the canopy of large oaks, hickories, and other hardwoods, removing dead and dying branches, especially those over roofs, driveways, decks, and play areas. It's detail work, done with proper rigging so heavy limbs are lowered under control instead of dropped.

Fall is an ideal time for it. Dead branches are still easy to spot against the remaining leaves, and getting the work done now means it's finished well before any winter storm is in the forecast. Removing deadwood also lets our team take a close look at the rest of the tree while we're up there.

Do you remember the last ice storm that came through your part of the Upstate, and how your trees held up?
