An ash tree thinning out from the top down may be showing the first signs of emerald ash borer.
This invasive beetle has killed millions of ash trees nationwide and has spread across much of Missouri. Because the damage happens under the bark, early signs are easy to miss: a canopy thinning from the top, small D-shaped exit holes, vertical bark splits, heavy woodpecker activity, and sprouts along the lower trunk. Green ash and white ash are both vulnerable.
Ash trees killed by emerald ash borer turn brittle and unpredictable faster than most species, so removal becomes harder and riskier the longer a dead ash stands. Catching the problem early leaves more options. Oasis Tree Care's certified arborists assess ash trees and plan the right next step before a declining tree becomes a hazard.
Family-owned and fully licensed and insured, Oasis Tree Care serves Springfield, Nixa, Ozark, Republic, and nearby communities.

Authentic photo of an ash tree with a thinning upper canopy on a real Springfield-area job, or a close-up of D-shaped exit holes or woodpecker damage on ash bark. Do not caption or tag any individual by name. Real job photos strongly preferred over stock imagery.
