October Is Careers in Construction Month, and Remodeling Needs the Next Generation of Tradespeople

Post Copy

October is Careers in Construction Month, a national push to show students, career changers, and parents what a future in the building trades can look like. Remodeling is a big part of that story, because every kitchen, bath, addition, and repair in metro Atlanta depends on skilled carpenters, electricians, plumbers, tile setters, project managers, and designers.

These careers often get overlooked in favor of a four-year degree, yet they offer real paths to good pay, hands-on problem solving, and in many cases owning a business someday. Plenty of remodeling company owners started out as helpers or apprentices and built their firms one project at a time. NARI Atlanta's Women in Construction subgroup is also opening the door wider for people who haven't always seen themselves on a job site.

If you know a student or someone considering a career change who likes building things, this is a great month to point them toward the trades. Who first taught you to use a tool, and what did they show you how to build?

Image / Media Suggestion

A real photo from a member job site or chapter event showing an apprentice or younger tradesperson learning hands-on, with permission. Do not caption or name individuals. A branded Canva graphic listing remodeling career paths (carpenter, electrician, project manager, designer) also works. No Google Drive image folder is set up for this client, so request a real photo from the chapter or a member firm, or use a branded Canva graphic with chapter colors. Real photos outperform stock images.
