On most remodeling projects, the person homeowners see most often isn't the company owner or the designer. It's the lead carpenter, the professional on site every day who keeps the work moving, coordinates the trades, and answers questions during the end-of-day walkthrough. NARI's Certified Lead Carpenter credential, known as CLC, recognizes the people who do that job at a high level.
Earning the CLC isn't a weekend course. Candidates bring years of documented field experience and pass a comprehensive exam covering job site management, safety, construction methods, and working with clients, and like other NARI designations it's maintained through continuing education.
When you're interviewing remodelers, it's worth asking who will actually run your project day to day and what training that person has. A firm that invests in its field leaders is usually a firm that takes the whole experience seriously. Who was the person on site who made the biggest difference during a remodel you've lived through?

A real job-site photo from a member firm showing a lead carpenter at work, reviewing plans or working alongside trade partners, with permission from the firm. Do not caption or name the individual. A branded Canva graphic with the NARI certification seal and the phrase "Certified Lead Carpenter" also works. No Google Drive image folder is set up for this client, so request a real photo from the chapter or a member firm, or use a branded Canva graphic with chapter colors. Real photos outperform stock images.
