How to Tell If a Tree Needs Cabling or Bracing After Storm Damage

Post Copy

Not every damaged tree needs to come down. Sometimes the right answer is support, not removal, but knowing the difference takes a trained eye.

Cabling and bracing are used when a tree has a split trunk, co-dominant stems that are pulling apart, or a heavy limb at risk of failure, but the tree is otherwise healthy enough to save. Steel cables or rods redistribute the stress and reduce the chance of a future break during high wind or a heavy snow load.

Signs a tree might be a candidate include a visible crack at a branch union, two large trunks growing close together, or a limb that noticeably sags more than it used to.

Monster Tree Service of Southwest Denver evaluates trees across the Front Range for cabling and bracing, giving property owners an option that preserves a valuable tree instead of losing it.

Authentic job photo preferred: a close-up of cabling or bracing hardware installed in a tree canopy, an arborist inspecting a split trunk, or a before/after of a supported tree. Real installation photos are more informative and trustworthy than stock tree images.
