6061 aluminum is the structural choice: higher strength, excellent machinability, ideal for brackets, frames, and load-bearing applications. 6063 is the architectural and finish choice: slightly softer but takes anodizing beautifully, preferred for trim, window frames, and extrusions where surface quality matters.
