Severe thunderstorm season is here for North Texas, and Tarrant County is right in the middle of it. From now through September, powerful storms with high winds, heavy rain, and lightning are a real threat to trees and the properties beneath them.
The problem isn't always a healthy tree that breaks in a strong wind. More often, storm damage happens to trees that already had a problem: dead wood hanging overhead, branches with weak attachments to the trunk, or trees that have been slowly leaning toward a fence, a roof, or a driveway.
If you're not sure what to look for, here's a simple starting point: walk your yard and look up. Dead branches with no leaves, cracks where major limbs meet the trunk, and trees growing at an angle toward a structure are all worth a closer look before the next storm moves through.
Mercer Tree Service provides free estimates across Tarrant County. Has a recent storm or a wet spring changed what your yard looks like? What are you keeping an eye on right now?
