Most of what you're hauling out of a home renovation, cleanout, or yard project goes in the dumpster without a second thought. Construction debris, furniture, appliances, cardboard, yard waste, carpet, flooring — all fine. But a few categories trip people up, and knowing the rules before you start filling saves everyone a headache.
Items that cannot go in a roll-off container: paint (latex or oil-based), motor oil and automotive fluids, batteries, tires, propane tanks, and appliances containing refrigerants (refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers). These are regulated as hazardous materials and require separate disposal. Your local Weld or Larimer County hazardous waste facility can handle them.
Items that are fine and commonly misunderstood: mattresses, electronics, and most construction debris including drywall, lumber, concrete, and roofing materials. Concrete and dirt in large quantities may affect weight-based pricing, so it's worth mentioning those when you book.
