Across Gloucester County, fall means heating oil and propane trucks start making their rounds again, along with bigger leaf pickup and delivery vehicles on long rural driveways. Low limbs that grew out over the drive all summer are often the first thing those trucks meet, and a torn branch or a scraped truck is a frustrating way to start the season.
Crown raising is the fix. The crew removes the lowest limbs back to proper pruning points so there is clean overhead clearance for tall vehicles, while leaving the rest of the canopy healthy and balanced. It is a quick job for our 75-foot bucket truck, and the chipper clears every branch before we pull out.
Raising the canopy now also lets more light reach the lawn and keeps wet branches from hanging over the drive once winter weather arrives. Owner-operated means the person looking at your driveway is the same one making sure the cuts are done right. How long is the driveway at your place, and which tree always seems to reach out over it first?
