Spotting summer heat stress in South Jersey trees

Post Copy

Early summer is one of the most stressful periods for trees in South Jersey, and most homeowners don't notice the signs until real damage has already set in.

A few things to watch for right now: leaves that are wilting or curling and not recovering overnight, premature leaf drop in sections of the canopy, thin spots where a tree that was full last summer now looks sparse, and bark cracking on the sun-exposed sides of the trunk.

Heat stress weakens a tree's natural defenses, making it more vulnerable to insects and fungal disease just when conditions are hardest on it. Catching it early gives the tree a much better chance.

Have you noticed any of your trees looking off this summer? Which type of tree is it? #GloucesterCounty #TreeHealth

Close-up of heat-stressed leaves, wilting foliage, or bark cracking on a real South Jersey tree. If available, a canopy shot showing thin or sparse sections works well. Real job site photos are strongly preferred over stock.
