A stump left behind after a removal is more than an eyesore. It gets in the way of mowing, trips up kids and guests, and in many species keeps pushing up sprouts for years. In Bakersfield yards, old stumps also tend to attract termites as the wood slowly breaks down.
Stump grinding takes care of all of that. Our grinder chews the stump down below the soil line, along with the main surface roots, and turns it into wood chips. Depending on what you have planned for the space, we can grind deeper to make room for a new tree, a planter bed, or fresh sod, and the chips can be left as mulch or hauled away.
Grinding is usually faster and far less disruptive than digging a stump out, and it leaves the surrounding lawn, sprinklers, and hardscape intact when it is done with care. If you are thinking about a landscape refresh this winter, clearing old stumps first gives you a clean slate to work with.
