Bradford Pears Across Franklin Neighborhoods Are Reaching the Age When They Split Apart

Post Copy

Pretty in spring. Prone to splitting.

Bradford pears grow tight, V-shaped branch unions that weaken as the tree ages. Many around Franklin are now big enough that a single storm or ice load can split them in half. Look for cracks below the unions and limbs starting to spread apart.

Thinking about replacing yours with a sturdy native oak or redbud instead? Link in bio.

Image / Media Suggestion

A real Franklin Tree Service photo of a Bradford (Callery) pear with a split trunk or a large torn limb, ideally from a local job. A close-up of the narrow, V-shaped branch unions is a strong second image. Authentic job photos only.
