Trimming Limbs Off Roofs and Gutters Keeps Overhanging Branches From Wearing Down Your Home

Post Copy

Branches resting on or hanging over a roof cause more damage than most homeowners realize. Every breeze drags them across shingles, scraping off the protective granules, and the shade and constant leaf litter keep roofs damp enough for moss and rot to take hold.

Our roof clearance trimming targets the limbs that are touching or close to your home, cutting them back to a proper branch union so the tree seals the wound and doesn't respond with a flush of weak new shoots. We generally aim to leave several feet of clearance between branches and the roofline, while keeping the tree's natural shape and overall health intact.

Clearing overhanging limbs also means fewer clogged gutters each fall, less debris on the roof after storms, and fewer easy paths for squirrels and other critters to reach the attic. For large limbs over the house, our crew uses ropes and rigging to lower each piece in a controlled way so nothing lands on the roof.

Is there a branch on your property that you hear brushing against the house every time the wind picks up?

A real before/after from a Franklin Tree Service job: branches draped over a roofline, then the same roof with clean clearance. An action shot of a limb being rigged down over a house also works. Authentic before/after photos far outperform stock images.
