Signs of Summer Drought Stress in Middle Tennessee Trees

Post Copy

Trees across Middle Tennessee are showing the strain of summer heat right now, and the signs are easy to miss until a tree is already in trouble.

Wilting leaves that do not recover overnight, early leaf drop, and a thinning canopy are common signs of drought stress on properties throughout Nashville, Brentwood, and Mt. Juliet. Established trees can usually handle short dry spells, but extended heat puts real strain on root systems.

A stressed tree is also more vulnerable to pests and disease, which is why catching the early signs matters. Deep, infrequent watering at the drip line does more good than a quick daily sprinkle.

Downs Tree Service has been assessing tree health across Middle Tennessee since 2001, and our crews know what a struggling tree looks like before it becomes a bigger problem.
