Sometimes a tree is healthy, well loved, and simply in the wrong place. Maybe that dogwood planted beside the porch is now crowding the steps, or a young maple is growing straight toward a future addition. Before anyone reaches for a saw, it is worth asking whether the tree can move instead.
Tree transplanting is one of the services our family has offered for generations, and fall is the best time to do it across Baltimore County and York County. Once leaves start to drop, a tree stops pushing energy into new growth, and the cool, moist soil gives its roots months to settle in before summer heat arrives. A well-timed move means far less stress than one attempted in June.
Success comes down to the root ball. We size it to the trunk, dig and wrap it carefully to keep the soil intact, and prepare the new planting hole before the tree ever leaves the ground. Then we set it at the right depth, water it in, and walk you through the care it will need through its first year.
Is there a young tree on your property that you love but wish were somewhere else? Tell us what it is and where it is growing.

A real Crass Tree Experts job photo of a young tree being dug with its root ball wrapped and ready to move, or the same tree replanted in its new spot. A before/after pair (old cramped location, new open location) is ideal. Authentic job photos strongly outperform stock.
