Spring Watering Guide: New Trees Need Attention

Post Copy

If you planted trees in fall or early spring, April is the month when they need the most water. New trees haven't fully established their root systems yet, and warm April temperatures combined with spring growth demands put stress on young saplings.

New trees should be watered deeply 2-3 times per week, not lightly every day. Deep watering encourages roots to grow down and establish strength. Mulch around the base (3-4 inches, not piled against the trunk) helps retain moisture and keep soil temperature steady.
