A Domed Gazebo and Sweeping Staircase Tie an Atlanta Deck to the Covered Patio Below

Post Copy

Some backyard projects are about adding square footage. This Atlanta project was about giving a large home an outdoor space with as much character as the house itself. Our team built a composite deck with a covered, domed-roof gazebo on one corner, then connected it to a covered patio below with a sweeping staircase.

The material choices keep it clean and low-maintenance: gray composite decking, black composite and aluminum railings, and white columns that echo the home's architecture. The gazebo gives the upper level a shaded spot for conversation or morning coffee, while the covered patio along the back of the house stays dry for grilling and gathering when Atlanta weather turns.

Projects like this show why we design outdoor structures as part of the home rather than something tacked onto it. A gazebo, pavilion, or patio cover can turn an open deck into a space you use in more seasons, and the right design makes it feel like it was always there. The full project is linked in the comments.

If you could add one covered spot to your backyard, would it be up on the deck or down at patio level?

Image / Media Suggestion

Real photos from the Atlanta deck, gazebo, and covered patio project on the Builders America portfolio: a wide shot showing the domed gazebo, the staircase, and the covered patio together works best. A carousel (gazebo detail, staircase, lower patio) suits Instagram. Authentic project photos are always preferred over stock images. No Google Drive image folder is set up yet, so source from the Builders America portfolio (Projects page) or request a photo from the client. Confirm homeowner approval for photos of a private residence.
