Not every tree problem is solved with a saw. One of the plant health care tools our team uses most on stressed trees is a tree growth regulator, a soil-applied treatment that temporarily slows how fast a tree pushes out new shoots.
When shoot growth slows, the tree redirects energy into fine root development, thicker leaves, and its own defensive chemistry. That makes growth regulators especially useful for trees that have been through root damage from construction, repeated drought stress, or tight urban growing spaces where a mature tree can't expand its root zone much further.
They also help with trees growing close to homes, rooflines, and utility lines, where slower canopy growth means fewer and lighter pruning cycles over the years. Our ISA Certified Arborists evaluate each tree first, because a growth regulator is a good fit for some situations and not others, and it works best as part of a broader PHC plan that includes soil care and monitoring.
Is there a tree on your property that has been struggling since a construction project or a hot, dry summer?
