Early summer is when bark beetles, fungal leaf diseases, and iron chlorosis are most active on Colorado trees — and most homeowners don't spot the signs until the damage is well underway.
Watch for small entry holes in pine and spruce bark, dark spots or powdery coatings on leaves, and yellowing foliage with green veins (a sign of chlorosis in Colorado's alkaline soils). These issues are treatable when caught early.
