Late-Summer Drought Stress on Central Mississippi Trees: What to Watch For

Post Copy

Late summer heat in Central Mississippi puts real stress on trees, and the warning signs are easy to miss if you are not looking for them.

Wilting or curling leaves, early leaf drop outside of fall, and a thinning canopy can all point to drought stress. Left unaddressed, a stressed tree becomes more vulnerable to insects and disease that a healthy tree would normally fight off on its own. A tree under drought stress also becomes far more attractive to bark beetles and other opportunistic pests looking for a weakened target.

Mature trees usually need deep, infrequent watering rather than a quick daily sprinkle, especially during stretches without rain. Younger trees and anything planted in the last few years need even closer attention through the hottest part of the season.

If your trees are showing signs of stress, an evaluation now can prevent bigger problems later. Free estimates available across Central Mississippi. #DroughtStress #CentralMississippi #TreeHealth #BrandonMS #SummerTreeCare
