A slash pine leaning toward a Santa Rosa Beach home looked stable enough from the street, but a closer inspection told a different story.
Climbing the tree revealed a hairline crack near the root plate, a sign the tree had already shifted during an earlier storm and was slowly losing its anchorage. Left alone, it likely would have failed in the next round of high wind, right toward the house.
Backridge's crew removed the pine in carefully rigged sections to protect the home, the fence line, and a nearby flower bed, then cleared all debris the same day.
