A Storm-Damaged Silver Maple in Arvada: Restoring a Safe Canopy in One Day

Post Copy

A hailstorm earlier this summer split a large limb on a mature silver maple in Arvada, leaving it hanging over a driveway and part of the roofline.

The job called for careful rigging to lower the damaged limb in sections rather than letting it drop, protecting both the driveway surface and a fence line close to the work area.

After the damaged wood came down, selective pruning reduced weight on the remaining limbs and corrected the imbalance the break had created, restoring a safer, more stable canopy instead of taking the whole tree down.

The tree stayed standing, the property came through the job without damage, and the homeowner kept a mature shade tree that would have taken decades to replace.
