Moving a Tree Instead of Losing It: How ArborSafe Transplants Trees During Dormancy

Post Copy

Sometimes a tree is healthy but in the wrong place: too close to a new patio, in the path of an addition, or crowded by a neighboring tree. Before deciding on removal, it's worth asking whether it can be moved. ArborSafe offers tree transplanting for the right candidates across the Treasure Valley.

Success depends on size, species, and timing. Younger, smaller trees move best because they keep a larger share of their roots in the root ball. Late fall, once a tree has gone dormant but before the ground freezes, and early spring are the best windows, because the tree isn't supporting leaves while new roots begin to grow.

We evaluate the tree, dig a root ball sized to the trunk, protect it during the move, and set it at the correct depth in a spot that suits it. Aftercare matters just as much, and if a tree is too large to move successfully, we'll tell you that up front.

Is there a tree on your property you'd keep if only it were in a different spot? #TreeCare
