Early Fall Is the Ideal Window to Plant New Trees Across the Treasure Valley

Post Copy

Late summer heat isn't kind to new tree roots, but the window that's about to open is one of the best times of year to plant. Once temperatures start easing in early fall, trees can focus on root establishment instead of surviving the heat.

Cooler air and warm soil work together to give new trees a head start before winter dormancy sets in. That combination reduces transplant stress and gives roots months to settle in before next summer's heat arrives.

Choosing the right species for a Treasure Valley yard matters just as much as timing. Not every tree that looks good at the nursery is suited to our soil and water conditions.

Are you thinking about adding a tree to your property this fall? What's on your list?
