Construction Can Damage Tree Roots Years Before You See It

Post Copy

Root zone damage from construction can take one to three years to show up in the canopy. Heavy equipment, grade changes, and trenching near a mature tree compact the soil and cut off root function long before any leaves start thinning.

Protecting the root zone before work starts is the difference between a tree that survives a remodel and one that slowly declines afterward.
