Cottonwood Season in the Treasure Valley: What the Fluff Means and When It Signals a Real Tree Issue

Post Copy

Cottonwood season is in full swing across the Treasure Valley. While the familiar white fluff is just seeds and poses no risk to your trees or landscaping, June is an ideal time to give the cottonwoods on your property a closer look.

Cottonwoods are fast-growing trees, and they can develop structural vulnerabilities that aren't obvious from a distance. Our arborists assess for included bark in branch unions, root zone disruption from nearby construction, crown dieback, and signs of internal decay. Trees near homes, fences, or utility lines deserve particular attention.

If you have a large cottonwood and haven't had it evaluated recently, now is a good time, before summer storms add wind load to a potentially stressed tree. ArborSafe serves Nampa, Caldwell, Meridian, Eagle, Boise, and surrounding communities in Ada and Canyon Counties.

Schedule a consultation with our team to have your trees assessed by an ISA Certified Arborist.
