Once the first hard freeze hits Northern Colorado, tree work gets a lot harder to schedule and a lot harder to do safely.
Early September is the sweet spot for pruning and trimming across Windsor, Fort Collins, and Loveland. Trees are still in leaf, which makes it easier to spot dead or damaged branches, but growth has slowed enough that cuts heal cleanly before dormancy sets in. Waiting until after leaf drop means working blind on structural issues that were easier to see now.
It's also simply easier to get on the schedule before the fall rush hits, when everyone remembers their trees at the same time once the weather turns.
If you've been putting off a trim, this window won't last long.
