What It Takes to Earn and Keep an ISA Arborist Certification, and Why ACE Keeps One on Staff

Post Copy

You'll see "ISA Certified Arborist" on just about everything ACE puts out, and it's fair to ask what it actually means. It isn't a business license or a membership card. It's a professional credential from the International Society of Arboriculture that has to be earned, and then kept.

Earning it takes years of hands-on experience in tree care plus passing a comprehensive exam covering tree biology, soil and water management, pruning, diagnosis, safety, and more. Keeping it means completing continuing education on a regular cycle, because what the industry knows about tree health and safe work practices keeps changing.

That's why it matters to us. It means the person looking at your tree in Birmingham, Hoover, or Trussville is diagnosing, not guessing. It also shapes how the whole crew works: proper cuts, careful rigging, and treating a tree like a living thing worth saving whenever it can be saved.

Before you hire someone to work on your trees, what's the first thing you usually ask them?

Real photo of the crew at work on a canopy or doing a tree inspection, or a branded graphic featuring the ISA Certified Arborist credential. Keep the focus on the team and the credential rather than a single named individual. Authentic photos from real ACE jobs strongly preferred over stock images.
