Cabling and Bracing Give Structurally Weak Birmingham Trees a Second Chance

Post Copy

Not every structural problem in a tree means it has to come down. Cabling and bracing let ACE support a weak branch union or a split trunk from the inside, giving a tree years of extra life instead of an automatic removal.

We typically recommend it for large, otherwise healthy trees with a codominant stem or a crack that hasn't compromised the whole structure. A properly installed cable system redistributes the load so wind and weight don't concentrate on the weak point.

It's one of the services that separates a full-service arborist from a crew that only knows how to cut trees down. For homeowners with a mature tree they'd rather save than lose, it's often the option nobody mentioned until we walked the property.

Do you have a large tree with a split or a lean that's made you nervous, but you're not ready to remove it?
