Georgia is currently experiencing one of its most widespread droughts on record, and trees across the Atlanta metro are showing the effects.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor data shows 100% of Georgia in drought, with more than 80% of the state in severe drought or worse. For trees, drought at that level means weakened root systems, increased vulnerability to insects and fungal disease, early leaf drop, and, in prolonged cases, tree mortality.
Drought damage is often hard to spot until it's advanced. If you're seeing thin or yellowing canopies, bark cracking, or unusual leaf drop this spring, those are signs worth having a professional assess sooner rather than later.
